An exhibition, a forum, and an opportunity to change the way we think about visual art, design and craft: the Arc Biennial promises sustenance for the eyes, ears and mind.

The Arc Biennial is as much about people as it is about the art. Presenting and promoting Australian art in a rapidly changing world fosters creativity and inspiration not only for Australian artists, but also for the Australian public as a whole. The event brings together creative minds and offers a platform for dialogue and cultural exchange.

By extending awareness into regions nationally and internationally, the Arc Biennial increases general accessibility to art and connects everyone to faces, places and perspectives through the event.

More than an art fair, more than a symposium; Arc provides a unique context in which the arts industry, practitioners and audiences can engage with each other’s ideas.

The Arc Biennial is a mostly free event that is accessible for all. If there is something you would like more information on, please feel free to contact us. Check back regularly as event details are added, confirmed and updated.

ACROSS THE GULF

Across the Gulf is a major exhibition of works by 22 artists from Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. It presents a showcase of emerging and established artists who are all practicing from within their culture, rather than building their practice in the west. Across the Gulf showcases an array of works with a focus on photomedia and painting. The artists in the exhibition are making contemporary art in the face of a cultural landscape that is undergoing intensive and unparalleled change.

NEW WORLDS, NEW FUTURES
New Worlds, New Futures is a program of four installations  which explore a future world that is taking shape now, from the future city built on sand or the world of nature affected by climate change and the demand for scarce resources. The program focuses on people and other living organisms and how they respond to these new worlds with a range of adaptive survival strategies that include science, inventiveness and spiritual faith.

NEW INTERPRETATIONS OF PAST LIVES

This program takes place over a weekend (see times back page) at Fort Lytton. The artists in this program question the nature of the audience for contemporary art and encourage the participation of the audience in the experience of the site and the development of the works. Past lives are never far away from the experience of the works and history is experienced in new ways.
