Adrienne Ward
Chair

As Managing Director of Fresco Consulting, Adrienne is also active on several boards including Queensland Events Corporation, The Premier's Business Round Table, and The Gold Coast Institute of TAFE. A former State Telstra Business Woman of the Year, Adrienne has a background in corporate and government strategy and was awarded the Centenary Medal in 2003 for distinguished service and achievement in business and commerce.

Adrienne's enthusiasm for art began with her support of local artists in various forms and the collection of contemporary pieces that now adorn her home. The opportunities to travel abroad on Queensland's Trade Missions, has developed further interest in this area and has increased her commitment to
advocacy for the artistic community.




Vice-Chair
Peter Denham

Appointed as Director of Museum of Brisbane for 2007, Peter has been at MoB since 2002 as Program Manager and has been part of the team that has set up MoB (to expand on the old Brisbane City Gallery) that encompasses social history, visual arts, craft and design.

Peter's industry experiences have ranged from large public institutions to small focused organisations, including the National Gallery of Victoria, Cairns Regional Gallery and the Queensland Art Gallery. During this time Peter has also been involved with a number of industry organisations including the Cultural Advisory Council at Arts Queensland and a member of the Art in Public Places working party for Brisbane City Council. Peter initiated and co-curated Story Place: Indigenous Art from Cape York and the Rainforest for the Queensland Art Gallery and for MoB initiated One Square Mile: Brisbane Boundaries which featured a number of Queensland artists, including Judy Watson, Tracey Moffatt, Gordon Bennett, Vernon Ah Kee, Fiona Foley, Archie Moore, Luke Roberts, Scott Redford, Anne Wallace and Judith Wright.




Treasurer
Ruth Lennon


Ruth Lennon is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and was appointed as the Treasurer of Artworkers in December 2007.

Ruth holds a Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting and Business Law and a Graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting. Ruth is currently completing a Master of Applied Taxation at The University of New South Wales.

Ruth is employed as a Manager within the Taxation and Business Solutions department of Vincents Chartered Accountants in Brisbane. She has considerable accounting and taxation experience and enjoys making a practical contribution to Queensland artists through her involvement with Artworkers.



Secretary
Luke Roberts

Luke studied fine art at the Julian Ashton School in Sydney and the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University Brisbane. He received his Master of Fine Arts from Queensland University of Technology. From 1984-1987 he lived and worked in Europe.

Luke was the Australian Fellow and studio resident at P.S.1 Studio, Institute of Contemporary Art, New York 1996-97. He was an Australian representative at the 2002 Biennale of Sydney for his installation Greetings from Amnesia at the Museum of Contemporary Art. His work has also featured in the 2nd Asia-Pacific Triennial, Queensland Art Gallery, Australian Perspecta 1991 & 1995, Art Gallery of New South Wales and in 1982 he had a solo show at the Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane, which published a monograph on his work in 1999.

Luke is currently represented by Philip Bacon Galleries, Brisbane and is both an adviser to and patronized by Her Divine Holiness Pope Alice. His work is held in numerous public collections nationally and internationally.

Anita Hochman

Anita is a recent arrival from the Northern Rivers of NSW where she lectured in painting at Southern Cross University for 15 years, taught in the professional practice program and oversaw student recruitment for Visual Arts. She has won a number of awards, held 13 solo exhibitions, and been represented in many selected and curated exhibitions. Anita was artist in residence at the Gunnery Studios at Bundanon, and at Le Centre d'Art Marnay in France - for which she was awarded the Foundation Tenot. She received an Australia Council New Work Project Grant in 2007 to explore a personal response to landscape in flux and is represented by Gallery 482, Brisbane.

Scott McConnel

Scott McConnel is a practicing lawyer with almost 20 years legal experience. He has a strong interest in developing and assisting the arts, and has served as a committee member of the Blues Association of South East Queensland, and as a committee member and volunteer advisor of the Arts Law Centre of Queensland. Through his legal, non-profit and commercial experience, Scott is able to provide practical advice and input on the direction and policies of Artworkers, particularly in relation to its legislative obligations and the general legal rights and liabilities arising out of its activities.
